Heroes and Horses – (Montana) Helps male combat veterans surpass mental, physical and spiritual issues through connecting them with the wilderness and of course, horses. Their 6-week program provides male veterans the opportunity to traverse some of the toughest terrain in North America and learn about horsemanship, riding, pack training, back-country skills, stock management, leadership, and the basics of being an outdoorsman.
HOOVES for Vets – (Ohio) Serves veterans and their dependents through equine assisted programs including mental health counseling, physical/occupational therapy, therapeutic horsemanship/carriage driving and more.
Saddle in Service – (California) provides a better life to Active Duty Military and veterans through horse rehabilitation. Their free 6-phase program includes Horse psychology & physiology, Grooming and horse care, Groundwork to establish a relationship with your horse, Riding in a controlled environment (round pen and arena), Trail Riding. Advanced cowboy skills (i.e. roping, cattle work, and challenge courses)
Harmony Acres Equestrian Center – (Colorado) Offers equestrian program for veterans.
Mustang Heritage Foundation, Veterans & Mustangs – (Texas) Connects active-duty military and veterans with wild horses in an effort to help both the participant and the animal.
Valor Equine Therapy Services – (Montana) Provides a resource for the ever-growing demand for professional assistance in mitigating the damaging effects of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and/or traumatic brain injury (TBI) suffered by military veterans, law enforcers, firefighters and EMT responders.
Veterans Club Inc – (Kentucky) Offers a broad range of programs, to include Equine Facilitated Mentoring Program to building community through shared cups of coffee.
Reining Liberty Ranch – (Michigan) Equestrian training for participants come into the Reining Liberty Ranch program through the Grand Traverse Horses 4 Heroes Program.Veterans start in “Phase 1” and learn the Basics of Safety & Equine Communication. This gives the Veterans the opportunity to learn about the ranch, meet and be mentored by other Veterans who have already come through our programs, and plug into ranch activities in a small class setting.
Saratoga War Horse – (New York) Offers equestrian therapy for veterans with PTSD. Travel, lodging, meal, and program expenses are all covered.
War Horses for Veterans – (Kansas) Offers 3-4 day programs for combat veterans that teaches the basics of horsemanship. Free for participants and may redo the program as often as they like as long as they bring another combat veteran.
Building Bridges Foundation – (Pennsylvania) Their mission is provide a safe space for personal growth through equine assisted activities for veterans and their families, those suffering from trauma and loss, and those who are struggling with cognitive and emotional challenges.
