HOOVES for Vets – (Ohio) Serves veterans and their dependents through equine assisted programs including mental health counseling, physical/occupational therapy, therapeutic horsemanship/carriage driving and more.
4-Day Healing Intensives – After spending time learning about the healing process, participants have the opportunity to work through their challenges in the arena with the feedback of our equine partners. You will complete ground exercises such as building a jump to represent a challenge and then getting the horse to go over it. Other activities such as yoga, meditation, art therapy and massages may also be available cost-free to participants.
The Patriot Project – The program runs in a 3-day, 4-hour workshop format. During this course, participants will learn how to improve emotional and mental well-being, discover personal growth and resilience, improve communication and social skills, experience self-discovery and empowerment, and connect with themselves and peers through nature.
Miles 2 Freedom – Aims to provide a healthy alternative for veterans to overcome substance abuse, process trauma, cope with stress, connect to a like-minded community and build new skills. Eligible participants are provided with a program-owned expedition bicycle and gear needed to complete multi-day cycling adventures. Throughout the six-month program, participants will attend weekly rides lead with mindfulness topics of discussion as well as trip planning meetings. As the course progresses, the distance and intensity of rides will increase, to include 3 multi-day trips.
