About Mustang Heritage Foundation

Mustang Heritage Foundation, Veterans & Mustangs – (Texas) Connects active-duty military and veterans with wild horses in an effort to help both the participant and the animal. With the help and guidance of an MHF trainer, participants spend approximately 30 days gentling a previously untouched horse. Through the gentling process, participants also learn basic horse care and management. The goal of the program is to help veterans lead more productive lives while helping an animal in need. After the completion of the program, the horses are available for adoption by the participant or placed into private care.

Veterans and active duty service members with proof of service are eligible to participate in the program. Horse experience is not required. At the end of the program, family, friends, past participants, and program supporters are invited to celebrate, recognize, and honor participants completing the program.
