Team River Runner – (Based in Maryland, Operates with Nationwide Chapters and Events) Offers paddling activities to veterans of all eras and their families, as well as non-service connected individuals either with or without disabilities interested in furthering the mission of TRR.
Sailing Fascination – (Newport, California) Operating entirely on the generosity of volunteers and in-kind contributions, Sailing Fascination brings sailing experiences to children, adults and veterans with disabilities since 1996. Since then, more than 1000 participants with a range of physical limitations have taken the course aboard the organization’s sailboat.
One More Wave – (Based in California, Operates with Nationwide Chapters and Events) Provides wounded and disabled veterans with customized surfing equipment and a community to surf with.
Undersea Warriors – (Texas) To aide Servicemembers, Veterans, and First Responders catastrophically wounded, seen and unseen, with a PTSD, anxiety or depression diagnosis by providing therapeutic scuba diving and marine conservation activities. Our organization serves all Active Duty, Veterans, National Guard, Reservists and First Responders recovering from PTSD, anxiety or depression by paying for recreational and/or adaptive scuba diving lessons with local community scuba shops and participation in marine conservation activities across the United States.
Skeleton Crew Adventures – (Texas) Since 2016, Skeleton Crew Adventures has led Adventure Therapy sailing expeditions across the globe. They currently operate out of Kemah, Texas, where they provide day-sail training opportunities, 3-4 day offshore sailing missions along the Texas coast.
Warrior Surf – (South Carolina) Works to provide free surf therapy, wellness coaching, yoga, and community to Veterans struggling with PTSD, anxiety, depression, transition issues, and other mental health issues.
The Valhalla Sailing Project – (Maryland) Through the sport of sailboat racing, The Valhalla Sailing Project provides wounded, disabled and separating Veterans the sense of camaraderie that is missing from civilian life.
Dive Heart – (Illinois, Florida, Georgia) Is a volunteer driven organization who’s mission is to build confidence, independence and self esteem in children, veterans and others with disabilities using zero gravity, adaptive scuba and scuba therapy.
Honoring Our Veterans – (Wyoming) Primary activities include week-long photography and fly fishing workshops. Honoring Our Veterans covers the cost of, airfare, transportation, lodging, meals, activities and equipment.
Deep Sea Valkyries – (Arizona) Is a Christian faith-based organization that provides alternative therapies to injured veterans. Participants are provided more than 30 hours of group and individual counseling sessions. Their main focus is on providing week-long retreats on live-aboard ships with activities such as swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving.
Sail Ahead – (New York) Uses sailing and the ocean as a therapeutic platform to foster healing in our military community. They partner with local Yacht Clubs and sailing organizations to take military veterans, active duty, and family members sailing. Sail Ahead teaches veterans how to sail, provides therapy on the water, and offers racing opportunities around the Long Island Sound, N.Y. and Puget Sound, W.A.
The Swel Mission – (California) Provides al inclusive four-day, three-night surf trips for veterans that focus on the mind, body, and soul. This is accomplished through yoga, wholesome family style meals, and, of course, surfing. Each day provides opportunities for personal growth and decompression within the structure of a carefully crafted itinerary that is set in advance and focuses on the specific needs and dynamic of each group. Full participation is strongly encouraged.
Canyon Heroes – (Arizona) Serves veterans by providing an adventure therapy experiences such as hiking and rafting. Trip participants are supported on their journeys by professional counselors with experience with the military community.
Tactical Reintegration Project – (Massachusetts) Provides an intensive and diverse diving program designed to assist active service members leaving the armed service.
AmpSurf – (California, New England, New York and the Pacific Northwest) Provides Learn to Surf Therapy Clinics to veterans and other disabled individuals. All ocean crafts and wetsuits for participants are provided and they host VetSurf – Every Friday at Addie Street Parking Lot, Pismo Beach CA.
Operation Surf – (California) Offers various curriculum-based surfing programs for eligible troops and veterans. Their most popular program is a week-long, all-expense paid program to eligible service members/veterans.
Waves Project – (Based in California, Operates in SoCal, Southern Florida and Southern Texas) Offers free scuba diving for veterans. Each veteran and a dive companion of their choice can experience the freedom of scuba diving for free.
Veteran Surf Alliance – (California) Offers surf meetups for troops and veterans with meetups in Linda Mar on Tuesday mornings, rain or shine or in Santa Cruz the last Saturday of every month. The Central Coast Chapter meets on the second Saturday of every month in Pismo. Their members travel from San Francisco, Santa Cruz, and as far as Sacramento as they meet all over the Northern California coast.
Warrior Sailing – (Florida) Offers sailing events for troops and veterans, with additional opportunities to obtain certifications and to participate in competitions.
U.S. Patriot Sailing – (California, Maryland) Fosters a supportive and understanding veteran community through sailing that helps participants navigate the hardships of transition, rehabilitation after injury, and the complex life challenges associated with combat deployments.
American Odysseus Sailing Foundation – Is a not-for profit organization with the mission of providing relief, assistance, and opportunities to veterans, military service members, and their families though sail training, coastal cruising excursions, and offshore sailing expeditions.
